SO, today i read a devo "Hearing Their Cry" and it talked about many poor widows and families that lived in India. It was about a total of 40 million widows and 15 thousand of them lived on the streets. Just reading these numbers may not seem much to you, but take a second and imagine hw much this number really is. Many are suffering and these are Gods beloved ones. We're called to care for them and to look after them like our own.
Back then God gave the instructions to the Israelites while they were in the desert to be responsible and care for widows and the fatherless children. The people were to leave some of the harvest in the field for them. I think it is our duty to give what we have to them and God expects us to defend the powerless. The verse for this devo was taken from Exodus 22:22-27.
(im sorry for some reason i cant paste things into my post, it gets all messed up so go to biblegateway and read it =)
so i really felt that this summers missions trip to vietnam has shown me what being needy and poor is really like. The people God created in his own image are living in the streets, homeless and empty.
God hears their cry, can you?
